Along with the Tesla Series for Project’s US debut, I also worked with Andrew to develop and manufacture a set of lock fins. Lock fins are specialty attachments for wakeskates which enable a separate branch of advanced tricks. The original models were shaped and polished by hand from blocks of mesquite wood. From that model we create a silicone mold used to cast the final product out of impact-resistant polyurethane. Because of the urethane’s unique durability we were able to eliminate the need for hardware inserts, and allow the hardware to fasten directly to the fins.
